Roman culture: Pisa & Siena

En este espacio compartimos los trabajos realizados por nuestros alumnos sobre los viajes educativos que se han llevado a cabo a lo largo del curso. 



LOCATION

Pisa (in Italian Provincia di Pisa) is a province in the Tuscany region of Italy. Siena is located in the center of Tuscany, in the south of the wellknown Florence and east of the small massif of the Metalliferous Hills. In the middle of one of the hilly areas, the geography is typical from Tuscany, with small valleys.


PISA HISTORY

The international assessment program PISA was developed between 1997 and 1999 and applied for the first time in 2000 with the collaboration of 28 OECD member countries, including Mexico (plus four non-member countries, giving a total of 32 countries. 


CLIMATE

In Pisa and Siena, summers are short, hot, humid and mostly clear, while winters are long, cold and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature generally varies from 0°C to 31°C and rarely drops below -6°C or rises above 35°C. 


ROMAN EMPIRE HISTORY

The Roman Empire. 5n. 6 was the period of Roman civilization after the Republic and characterized by an autocratic form of government. At its peak it controlled a territory stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the shores of the Caspian and Red Seas in the east. 


LEGENDS AND MISTERIES

 1.The witch Befana: A woman that knew the baby Jesus. She brought candies to him and coal to the bad children. In Italy, Santa Claus doesn’t exist.

 2. Romeo and Juliet: He killed himself because he thought she had died, but she was sleeping, then when she woke up she saw he had died and killed herself. 

3.Giulia Ammannati: A researcher has deciphered an inscription found in excavations at the base of the monument, which she managed to decipher the text: "I, Bonanno, citizen of Pisa, have built a work of beauty more than any other." This constitutes "the signature of Bonanno Pisano to the tower of Pisa".
